Data Engineer – Contracting Position

Stelfox is looking for a Data Engineer to join our client based in Waterford, Ireland.

6-months initial contract term, rolling / long-term contract

Competitive daily rate

Working model: Once a month onsite with the flexibility to come onsite when required for additional days for important meetings and events.

Role:

Looking for a skilled Data Engineer to support the migration project, which involves transferring data from an on-premises system to the cloud. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with the Microsoft data engineering stack and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Key responsibilities include monitoring ETL processes and generating reports as needed. You will troubleshoot failures in the production environment and resolve issues promptly. Additionally, you will update code and ETL processes as necessary to address these issues.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 5+ years post-qualification experience in a software engineering role with exposure to the full SDLC (Software and Product Development Life Cycle), preferably on enterprise-scale systems
  • Excellent Microsoft BI skills (Microsoft stack experience is essential)
  • Experience with Business Intelligence and reporting tools such as SSRS, Business Objects, Crystal Reports, or LOGIXML
  • Experience with ETL tools such as PowerCenter Informatica
  • Job scheduling experience (e.g., Autosys)
  • Experience working in the financial services sector (particularly insurance, ideally group benefits) is advantageous
  • Some AWS Cloud experience desirable but not essential (e.g., EC2, EMR, S3, Kinesis, DynamoDB, API Gateway, Lambda)
  • Strong engineering, system administration, and software development foundation
  • Proficiency in applying testing skills, tools/frameworks, techniques, processes, and principles to software solutions for defect management and reporting
  • Knowledge of performance testing, coding best practices, and load and performance testing
  • Familiarity with multiple software development methodologies, processes, development best practices, and DevOps principles
